About us

Risen is a part-time, family run bakery, operating from a farm location near Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

We started baking our own bread many years ago when we were unable to source high quality, tasty bread locally. We pride ourselves on our artisan breads. They are hand-made and left to prove naturally before being oven baked. No artificial ingredients, flour enhancers, colourings, or additives are used in any of our products. All ingredients are sourced for quality and taste, and many are organic. Our products are vegetarian, and wherever possible GM free. We believe that a natural bread-making process and the best ingredients are vital to create traditional loaves that are full of flavour.

Over the last few years we have tried and tested our range of breads. We find that the bread keeps very well when stored in a sealed plastic bag. It also freezes well, maintaining its freshness and taste when defrosted naturally. Our products are baked in our purpose-built home bakery. We hold certificates in Elementary Food Hygiene, and our premises are approved by the local Environmental Health Department.

We do not have a retail outlet. We bake to a minimum order and operate a 'Bread Box' scheme. We can also bake for your parties or events by arrangement. For your convenience Risen products are packaged for freshness. They are ready to eat or to be stored directly in your freezer.

Your order can be picked up from the bakery or delivered by arrangement. Deliveries within a given range will be free. A charge will be made out of that range. We are currently researching a third party, next day delivery service.

At the present our product range consists mainly of bread. In the future we aim to expand to include more cakes, a range of biscuits and a wider selection of world breads.
